![]() I'm wondering if it might be possible to have a biiiig airlocked room under my atmospherics department, full of thick CO2, with an insulated roof, and with several machines that just suck oxygen in, and spit it back out colder. Originally posted by Nanako =^.^=:ive never even seen a cold biome at all, so most of this is alien to me.ĭoes heat radiate in any specific direction? Does hot air rise realistically? Please give me some ideas and advice on how to design a base that can regulate its temperature I'm building in a 3 tile high maintenance area between each floor for transformers and ventilation, i'm going to have huge atmospherics areas, and ive got lots of room to plan things. Isn't there some way to say I want air at exactly this temperature, and cool as much as necessary to get it there?Īnyways i'm just starting a new colony right now. But as the heat in the atmospherics room rises over time, that 20 becomes 40, and the 14c cooling still leaves me with worryingly warm air. If i have 20c air and i cool it by 14c, ive got some pretty cold air. But i still don't know how to deal with the displaced heat from thatĪnd the other issue that comes to mind for me, how do you actually set temperature ? these cooling machines just seem to remove a flat quantity from the temperature of the substance within them, it seems very imprecise. ![]() I was thinking maybe some kind of liquid cooling system, have radiant pipes full of liquid C02 or somesuch, constantly running through a cooler in some hot place. And it seems like everywhere else is colder. What do you do with it then? It seems to build up and eventually overheat the cooling machine, or else radiate back into the base. The devices to cool liquids and gases just move heat around, from the pipes to the ambient atmosphere. By building a wide atmospherics department at the bottom of the base and letting oxygen drift up naturally through mesh tiles.īut cooling is an issue, especially in the greenhouse. This time around i'm going to try a ventilation strategy with ambient gas motion. I couldn't get a sufficient volume to where it needs to go But that ultimately failed because vents just can't hold enough air, for 14 people. What i tried last time was an HVAC system with thermoregulators to cool air and pump it around. ![]() This time i need a strategy for cooling, And i'm looking for advice in that regard. My greenhouse temperature creeping up, nowhere in my base below 30c, unable to grow food It had a lot of issues, but the straw that broke the camel's back was heat. After a lot of frustration, ive finally abandoned a colony and started over.
